Matthew Auger FRICS, is a founding Director of Phoenix Consulting, a proud Quantity Surveyor and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. With over with over 20 years experience in the Utilities, Infrastructure and Transportation sectors, Matthew possesses significant experience of the commercial management and project control of multi-million pound programmes of work. This includes procurement, contract drafting, change management, dispute resolution, the negotiation and settlement of final accounts and significant experience of working with Regulators and Companies to cost assure major projects and programmes of work.

Ian McDermott MSc MRICS - Director

Began career as a trainee QS on major Civil Engineering Projects before moving into Consulting as a Managing QS. Ian started Phoenix Consulting in November 2006 when as an Associate Partner the organisation was merged with a larger consultancy.

Ian’s experience extends from Major Infrastructure works such as CTRL and Crossrail, to utility and Defence sectors. His core strengths are in his leadership style which creates strong Customer relationship services and good collaborative working.

He is always looking to adapt the business to meet clients needs, remain relevant and ensure the business remains a stand-out firm that people want to work for, and do business the right way.

Bradley Ade BSc MRICS MCInstCES is a Director, Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and Member of the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors. With a significant background in transportation and civil engineering projects Bradley heads up the transportation sector of the business. Personable, competent and professional, Bradley’s ethos is to build and maintain strong relationships whilst adopting an effective, flexible and collaborative approach to working.

Hugh Moir

Hugh Moir is an Associate Director with over 20 years experience in the construction industry both across the UK and Internationally. With a keen interest in travel and the environment, Hugh currently works within the Environment Agency combing cost and carbon metrics to promote sustainable project solutions.

Previous work across the utilities and infrastructure sectors on both sides of the globe have seen Hugh hold various roles, including both pre and post contract client cost manager, where more recently Hugh has helped develop cost benchmarking database systemsand assist in the definition of framework commercial schedules into user guidance and training role outs. Other roles ‘on the other side’ as Contractors Commercial Manager have allowed for a widening of experience to enable Hugh to provide fully rounded commercial advice!

Marcos Gurney MCIArb is a Director of Phoenix Consulting North and Midlands with 16 years’ experience in the construction industry and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Over his career Marcos has worked for clients, tier one and tier two contractors delivering both Opex and Capex projects, across several different sectors. Combining technical knowledge, experience and effective communication, Marcos has a track record of delivering results in challenging environments.
